After a misfortunate event threatens to end her career as a detective in Atlanta, Georgia, Frankie Daniels finds herself transferred to the small town of Purdyville, North Carolina. Not pleased with the transfer, but happy to still have a job, Frankie arrives to find her new house burning down. Not one to mince words, Frankie lights into one of the locals. Little does she know, he happens to be her gorgeous, new boss.

Police Chief Matt Weber finds his new deputy to be a bit of a smart aleck, but definitely appealing. Within 24 hours of her arrival, she has beaten up a resident “bad boy” and won the admiration of a good portion of the town. His work is cut out for him though; the non-existent crime rate in this town has suddenly skyrocketed. As the two work closely together, they must keep their hands to themselves and their minds on their work, but that is much easier said than done!

As summer winds down and kids return to school, the first thing you should do is grab a copy of HOT SHOT and a very cool drink – you will need it! Packed with humor, sizzle and hilarious characters, I stayed up late into the night not being able to put the book down.

Frankie is something else, witty, smart and tough, the perfect match to the calmer Matt. The added bonus of her meddling mother was delightful, she had me grinning for the last half of the book.

I seriously hope that readers will find themselves returning to Purdyville, North Carolina in the future. I can only begin to imagine the riotous adventures awaiting Frankie and Matt!
